Biography
Dr. Jeffrey Engel is a board-certified general internist. His dedication to primary care stems from his belief that healthcare is a right and treating patients is a privilege. He takes a pragmatic approach to helping his patients achieve and maintain good health and well-being, by practicing evidence-based medicine and encouraging his patients to make reasonable behavioral choices.
Dr. Engel earned his BA from Brown University, his MBA from Columbia University, and his MD degree from SUNY Stony Brook. He completed his internship and residency at Montefiore Medical Center where he served as Primary Care Chief Resident and, upon graduation, was honored by the faculty as the Outstanding Ambulatory Care Resident.
Before joining Concorde Medical Group, Dr. Engel spent fifteen years in his own private practice, with offices in Greenwich Village and Chelsea/Flatiron. Prior to earning his MD, Dr. Engel was an investment banker in public finance, structuring low and moderate-income housing bond issues.

A tick bite and a diagnosis of Lyme disease turned out to be just the first, small step on what would become a years-long health journey for Rob McQuilkin, a literary agent. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rob, now 55, and his husband moved from New York City to a home in Tuxedo Park, New York. When he wasn’t working, Rob threw himself into country life, raising chickens and doing some serious gardening. Thinking back, he believes it was all that crawling through leaves and digging in the dirt that led to being bitten by a tick and contracting Lyme disease.
But Lyme, while serious, wasn’t his ultimate problem. Cancer would be.
This incredible patient testimonial shares how our Concorde physicians, internist, Dr. Jeffrey Engel and gastroenterologist, Dr. Luis Barraza, teamed up to uncover a rare form of pancreatic cancer for Rob McQuikin.
